About Stanley Klein

Stanley Klein I have been taking pictures for over 40 years, however it has only been the last seven years that I have dedicated myself exclusively to being a professional photographer. Prior to that decision I was involved in various aspects of the \"art world”. I studied glass blowing at Carnegie Mellon University and later taught it at the Ivy School of Arts. I was president of the Pittsburgh Craftsman\'s Guild and also gallery director for the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. In the mid 70’s along with my wife Carole we were Gringo Traders traveling throughout Central and South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia seeking artifacts to bring back to the USA for distribution. As a direct result we started a retail Gallery/Store named Ten Continents. Later, together, we founded Rainbow Mills, a textile corporation that continues to furnish fine quality hand made and hand dyed yarns to the hand knitting industry. In between all these activities I have been a shibori artist and most recently been known as “Stan Stan the Tie Man” making unique silk neckties. My crafts have been marketed at various high quality arts and crafts festivals including the “Sugarloaf” and “Howard Allen Art Festivals“. Better galleries and boutiques including The Smithsonian Museum Shops have carried my work. Now that I have dedicated myself full time to photography, I find that my subject matter and attitudes have changed. Previously my subjects were exclusively travel and wild life. Now I have expanded my horizons and become much more eclectic. I continue to travel, including most recently Costa Rica, Greece, Panama and the Southwest U.S.A. However, now I see “Art” all around me. In my photos I try to capture this \"Art\" whatever it is and wherever I am. I hope you enjoy my photos and the world as I see it.
